Does Visitation Continue To Age 21 In Queens?

December 22, 2014 by Marc Jacob

No, after the age of 18, the court no longer has jurisdiction over where you child spends their time.

Realistically, the teen years will see far less involvement by judges, as they understand that teens are increasingly independent and will often go through rebellious phases.

Despite this, your obligation to financially support your child ends when the child turns 21, with some exceptions.

Many parents continue to support their child beyond this window, through college graduation, for example, but unless this was included in your parenting agreement, it’s an optional choice you make, not court enforced.

The attorneys at Zelenitz, Shapiro & D’Agostino help clients create durable, workable parenting agreements and child support structures that provide for their children while protecting their budgets.
