Low-to-Moderate Income Areas (Federal Community Reinvestment Act)
Low-to-Moderate Income Areas (Federal Community Reinvestment Act)
Congress enacted the Community Reinvestment Act to encourage banks and savings associations to help meet the credit needs of their communities, including those for low- and moderate-income areas (and individuals). To implement CRA, federal regulators enforce the regulations, make recommendations and work with community groups and the lenders.
If you are looking to purchase a home in a low- to moderate-income area, you may also qualify for additional assistance at closing with certain lenders.
